Pentecost is one of seven feasts of the Lord, a festival to thank God for
the harvest of grain & other crops (Num. 28:26-31).
Pentecost is derived from the Greek word for fiftieth and marks fifty days after Christ's crucifixion.
When the Day of Pentecost had come, the Lord rained down His Spirit, fulfilling the prophecy in Joel 2:28-32. Tongues of fire appeared to Jesus's
followers; they were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak
in other tongues.
People from everywhere saw and heard them speaking in languages that were not their own, and they were amazed and perplexed, wondering how this could be (Acts 2).
